It sounds like your Omen 16 gaming laptop is experiencing a battery detection issue when the adapter is plugged in. Since you've already tried reconnecting the battery and it only temporarily fixes the problem, here are some steps you can take for a more permanent solution:
Check Power Adapter and Port
- Ensure you are using the original HP adapter and that it is functioning properly.
- Try using another compatible HP adapter if possible.
- Check for loose connections or debris in the charging port.
Update BIOS & Drivers
- Update BIOS:
- Go to HP Support and download the latest BIOS for your model.
- Install it and restart your laptop.
- Update Battery Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (Press Win + X → Click on Device Manager).
- Expand Batteries.
- Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery → Uninstall.
- Right-click on Microsoft AC Adapter → Uninstall.
- Restart your laptop (Windows will reinstall drivers automatically).
Run Battery Diagnostics
- Turn off your laptop.
- Press Power + F2 repeatedly to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run a Battery Check and see if any errors appear.

Check for Battery Firmware Updates
HP sometimes releases firmware updates for batteries. Go to the HP Support website and check if there's a battery firmware update for your model.
Hard Reset the Laptop
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Plug the adapter back in and turn it on.
Let me know how it goes!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
