I noticed that there is a bulge/bubble on the bottom right corner of my laptop.
I bought this laptop from a friend a few months ago and he had it for a couple of years before giving it to me. When he gave it to me, there was no bulge.
Now, after owning this laptop for a few months, I see that there is a bulge right next to the touchpad. I'm worried that this might be something bad so I wanted to see what it is and what I can do to fix it. This is an OMEN by HP - 17-w295ms laptop.

It's likely the battery that is deforming and causing the bulge.
If that is indeed the case, the battery must be removed and replaced.
"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery
- If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.
- There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.
HP Commercial and Consumer Notebook PCs - Swelling or Deformation of Notebook Battery
What to do?
Bloated battery needs to be replaced.
Two choices - actually three:
- Purchase and change out the battery yourself for the expense of having to purchase said battery.
- If the computer is in Warranty, contact HP World-Wide Support, submit a case, prepare to send the computer to HP for repair.
Third, unofficial option
- Wait for an agent to find your message, evaluate the content, and perhaps respond.
Some people do opt for the third option - "bloated" battery is a sensitive subject for some.
The fastest option is to purchase and replace the battery.
We can provide the information to help you replace the battery - see the how-to later in this message.
There is also video available.
The basic information you need is located in the Service Guide for your computer.

You are welcome.
If you've not ever opened a notebook, this can be a "scary" first experience.
Smiling.
The task is not overly difficult - the tech could likely do this while you wait.
Stay Safe.
