Hi Garp_senchau,

I tried everything. A new BIOS update came out, but it only includes security updates. Previously, in the version F13 Rev.A, the fan sometimes worked flawlessly without OMEN Gaming Hub installed, and when operating this way, the power boost settings were not active since the Gaming Hub software wasn’t installed, resulting in lower performance. But now, the fan only works occasionally when the computer starts, and after a certain period, the fans stop. I’m sure the issue stems from the BIOS settings. The wattage values might be related to BIOS settings like the fan speed adjusted to the computer’s current power mode or a constant fan-on setting. So, we need urgent BIOS update. Since upgrading from BIOS version F.11 Rev.A, I’ve been experiencing issues. Before that, I never had any fan problems.

Hello everyone,

I'm also replying on this forum post as the model being mentionned here is more or less identical to the one that I have.

I have made a post on another forum topic, which you can find here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Laptop-Fans-Stop-Working-Rando.... To make it short: this isn't an OS nor a driver nor a fan problem. This has something to do with the Embedded Controller which is responsible of sending PWM signals to both fans & monitoring them.

I apologize if I necro-bump posts, but this is a severe, ongoing issue that will not be fixed with regular repairs, whether it be by HP or a third-party repair shop. It would also be a waste to replace the full motherboard, and I do believe this isn't what was done to my computer when I RMAed it on my end.

I would rather want the engineers to be aware of this issue, so that they can investigate and fix. I'd be in fact glad to provide anything that is useful to them to diagnose the "why" in all of this.

EDIT: I have made a separate post to document the issue that we're all experiencing here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/OMEN-17-ck1000-ck2000-cm2000-intermittent-fan-dysfunc...

Thanks,

Alexis
