I got this notebook as a gift and it is unfotunately not under warranty any more, so I'm struggling with this issue that I have. Laptop won't turn on anymore, caps lock is just blinking 5 long time and after that 3 short. I can't find anywhere what that message for this type of model means, can someone help me find it, thanks.

Hello @Thermaltake

How long ago did the warranty run out?

HP Consumer laptops pretty much all follow the same beep code setup.

Looks like a motherboard issue.

If the warranty just ran out, perhaps a rep can still contact you?

let me know.

Laptop don't have a warranty, got it as a gift.

I tried to reprogram bios, and EC bios, but still the same.

I don't understand it's not even that old, and MBO is already dead...

Did you recieve the laptop as new at the time or was it registered to someone else?

I can have a rep contact you if its going to be do-able.

It was registered to someone else, and warranty is not vaild any more, I don't have contacts from that person.

Can someone help me with issue that I have, please, thanks.

That can be a problem if the person registered is no you and the warranty is up, not much I can do for you.

All I can offer is to maybe take the case apart and pull the CMOS battery for 10 minutes (disconnect the big battery and power cord also). Hold the power button down for 30 seconds to drain the remaining power and put the batteries back in. IF that does not help, nothing else I can offer as the motherboard needs repairs.
