BestBuy's geek squad told me that my HP OMEN laptop's motherboard is "half fried" after my laptop would simply freeze or turn black after plugging the power adapter into the laptop. Sadly, this problem occurred only a few months after the 1 yr manufacturer warranty expired. The laptop has no history of physical damage like drops and water spills, so this sudden occurrence was really surprising... It was simply used for school work and the occasional gaming like valorant (nothing too heavy). The BestBuy employees told me that my laptop will be pretty unreliable and dead due to the malfunctioning motherboard and it'll probably not be a good idea to spend more money to fix the laptop. The laptop turns on and boots properly as long as it isn't connected to power, however, it will simply freeze and blackout once connected. Simply put, I'm really lost about how I should proceed with dealing with this situation and what my options are.
