OMEN by HP - 17-w253dx

I have a OMEN by HP - 17-w253dx gaming notebook. A few months ago, I lost the original charger. I was informed by HP customer support that they do not sell that charger individually, so I bought a 3rd party charger by PWR+ that claimed to work on my laptop model. The new charger only charged the laptop while it was powered off. So, I exchanged the charger for a new one by PWR+, and have the same issue.

 

I need a charger that will power and charge my laptop while it is in use. I have read and followed the advice of dozens of posts on these support forums, but nothing has worked.

 

What steps can I take to either troubleshoot the problem, or get a new charger that works properly?

Your specs say that your model came with a 150 W AC power adapter.

Then in your manual it lists your AC as Part Number:   776620-001

Thank you so much for the detailed response! I wish I had spoken to you first instead of HP customer support. I have ordered a new charger, and will get back to confirm whether it worked or not.
