This started a few days ago, if I don't use my mouse for a few moments the mouse seems to get disabled or 'put to sleep' by my laptop. I thought at first it might be a battery issue with the mouse but I replaced it, and I checked the drivers as well. The mouse is old so there is a slight chance it's on it's last legs, but moving my laptops trackpad seems to [sometimes] fix it, which shouldn't affect the mouse if it's the thing that's damaged. I've tried different usb ports to no avail. I had an issue similar when I first got the laptop where it would put the audio drivers 'to sleep,' and I had to change a hex value in the drivers files to disable this 'feature.' I feel this might be something similar but I don't know how I would begin to test this hypothesis

I reviewed your post and I understand that the mouse is not working after a couple of minutes inactivity.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
- To start, go to Control Panel and click on Mouse. ...
- In the second Properties window for your mouse, click on the Change Settings button on the General tab.
- Finally, click the Power Management tab and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and check Allow this device to wake the computer.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you for your reply, I fixed this the day after I posted it by turning off 'Allow computer to put USB devices to sleep" or something to that extent, but it seems your fix works as well, as the option is now grayed out and I can't select it.
