Hi @TheodorGeology ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Omen laptop shows power issues like this—charging light on but screen remains blank—it often points to a hardware problem. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the charger and any peripherals (like USBs or external drives).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the charger (without any other peripherals), and try powering on the laptop again.
Check for Battery and Charger Issues:
- Ensure you’re using the original charger, as third-party chargers can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
- Try powering on the laptop with just the charger connected and without the battery if it’s removable. If it powers on, the battery might need to be replaced.
Attempt a BIOS Recovery:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys (or Windows + V on some models), and then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release the Power button but continue holding the Windows and B keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears (this may take several seconds).
Inspect for Loose Connections (if comfortable opening the laptop):
- If you’re comfortable, check that components like the RAM, SSD, and internal battery are securely connected, as a loose connection can prevent booting. Be cautious, as this could void any warranties if the laptop is still covered.
External Display Test:
- Connect an external monitor or TV via HDMI to rule out screen issues. Power on the laptop to see if it displays on the external screen.
