@Davv12345, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP Omen laptop turns on but gets stuck on a black screen, you can try out the following troubleshooting steps:
Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset
A hard reset can help bring your HP laptop back to its normal operation.
- Turn off your laptop by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds.
- Disconnect any external devices connected to the laptop (e.g., printers, USB drives).
- Unplug the power adapter from the laptop.
- If the battery is removable, remove the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual electrical charge.
- Reconnect the battery (if you removed it) and plug the power adapter back in.
- Turn on the laptop.
Step 2: Boot into Safe Mode
Booting into Safe Mode can help isolate issues with system files or settings.
- Turn on your laptop and immediately press the F8 key repeatedly until the boot options menu appears (if your laptop supports it).
- Select Safe Mode using the arrow keys and press Enter.
Step 3: Check for Display Issues
Ensure it's not an issue with the display.
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable.
- Turn on the external monitor/TV and switch it to the input that matches with the cable connection.
- Press Windows Key + P and cycle through the display options, selecting Extend or Duplicate.
Step 4: Update or Roll Back Graphics Driver
An issue with the graphics driver can also cause a black screen.
- Boot into Safe Mode (as described above).
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
- Expand Display Adapters.
- Right-click on your graphics driver and select Update driver or Roll back driver.
- Select the appropriate option and follow the prompts.
Step 5: Reset BIOS Settings
Corrupt BIOS settings can prevent the laptop from booting correctly.
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Turn it back on and immediately start pressing F10 repeatedly to access BIOS setup.
- Navigate to Exit or Advanced and select the option to load setup defaults.
- Save and exit BIOS.
Step 6: Perform a System Restore
If you've recently installed new software or updates that might be causing the issue, performing a system restore might help.
- Boot into Safe Mode.
- Open Control Panel and search for Recovery.
- Select Open System Restore.
- Follow the instructions to select a restore point before the problem started.
Step 7: Use HP Support Assistant
If you manage to restore the screen, use HP Support Assistant to diagnose and fix issues automatically.
- Download and install HP Support Assistant from the HP Support site.
- Open the program and run a diagnostic scan.
