I haven't had the error in two weeks.  I think that's long enough to confirm the official HP recovery USB is a legitimate fix (that you shouldn't have to pay for, but that's another disccusion for another day).

Thank you for getting this to me but I don't see the profile in power options after I import.  😞

Still getting these hangs.  My head is gonna explode if it happens again.

Heelp!!!

What's your Windows version?
Have you followed this procedure? http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/75562-power-plans-export-import.html
I did it on my Windows 10 64bit with no problems.

Did you see "Imported Power Scheme successfully" message on cmd?
Have you tried to open the prompt with administrator privileges?

Yes sir.  Followed it exactly with elevated cmd.

I am Windows 10 64Bit.

Below are the screenshots including the post install power config options.

That's even after a reboot 😞

@SystematicGio

Can you provide a screen shot of command prompt window after you executed "powercfg list"?  Just want to see all current power scheme profiles on the system.

Ok this makes more sense.

They are all listed in CMD

I confirmed the GUID matches with atleast the screenshot I previously posted.

So the imports are not prenamed "HP Reccomended"

Looks like I need to figure out how to name them.

If you guys know how let me know otherwise it looks like I will be on google.  Thank you JJLuvzU for pointing this out!

Here is the command prompt code:

powercfg -changename GUID "New Name"

example:

powercfg - changename b42087bb-bddc-4662-abeb-b6d7ec399ba0 "HP Recommended"

You sir have made my life easier tonight. I thank you very much!

Hopefully this new link and powercfg command will help others.

Update: It is now visible and selected.  Your command was off by a single space after the first dash.  There should be no space.

The command should be:

powercfg -changename b42087bb-bddc-4662-abeb-b6d7ec399ba0 "HP Recommended"
