Dear community / HP employees
Recently i purchased the HP Pavilion G 15-ec0100nd. I bought it at one of the biggest electronic stores in the Netherlands which detailed in their product description that it has a backlit keyboard (https://www.coolblue.nl/product/839439/hp-pavilion-g-15-ec0100nd.html). Well, it does not contain a backlit keyboard on my model (i tried everything, furthermore, the F5 button where normally the on / off button for backlit keyboard is located is blank so i am pretty sure it does not contain it.) I am really confused though, because the HP product description says it contains it (I am afraid it is in Dutch): https://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c06487722.pdf. When i acces my product information using ctr alt S it says the model is Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec0xxx, should'nt it say it is the G15-ec0100nd? When i google this model number i can't find much, however, i found a manual (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06446633). Here it actually does say it does not contain a backlit keyboard. I am pretty confused at the moment and i feel like my laptop should contain a backlit keyboard as the shop i bought it from and the official product information says it should. I want to know why the system information says Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec0xxx, and, if that is the same as the ec0100nd, why it does not contain a backlit keyboard.
Kind regards,
Randy

That is normal. All HPs read that way in the system information.
Its showing the Series the product belongs to and not the specific number.
HP goes by the Product Number instead. You will notice it next to the Model Number.
When you enter that P/N: into HPs search system, it finds the correct model.
That is how HP does it. I cannot change that.
why it does not contain a backlit keyboard.
HP creates different specs for different price points. None of us here have any way of knowing how those decisions are made.
As far as the wrong specs go, its not the first time someone at HP sitting in a cubicle made a mistake.
That particular model does not come with a backlit keyboard as I have cross referenced everything that is available to me.
Your Dutch PDF contradicts the USA PDF. I think that store you bought from probably copied the Dutch version innocently thinking it was correct.

Keyboard- Full-size island-style ghost white keyboard with numeric keypad.
That means no backlight.
All I can suggest is 2 options.
1. You can contact HP directly and explain the situation and see if what they say. Most likely they will not be able to change anything for you. Contact HP Worldwide | HP® Official Site
2. Save yourself the trouble and return it to the store you bought from. Find something else if a backlit keyboard is what you require.
