Solved!

HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk1700nd adding extra RAM

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk1700nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just recently bought this laptop and not really satisfied. Heavy games keep crashing and there is a lot of nonsense on it. I would like to have a clean install and add more RAM on it. I know how to but where can I buy the right RAM memory?

Hi:

Your notebook's processor runs the memory at 2933 MHz.

This would be compatible memory for your model...

16 GB

Crucial CT16G4SFRA32A werkgeheugen 16 GB (DDR4, 3200 MT/s, PC4-25600, SODIMM, 260-pin) groen: Amazon...

8 GB

Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

Crucial CT8G4SFRA32A werkgeheugen 8GB (DDR4, 3200 MT/s, PC4-25600, SODIMM, 260-pin) groen: Amazon.nl

Below is the link to the service manual...it is not up to date with the 10 gen core processors, but it should help you open up the notebook to replace the memory.

Thanks for you quick and helpful response!

I have one more question. Is it possible for me to add the 16GB RAM with the current 8GB already installed?

I read it has 2 slots.

Thanks in advance!

You're very welcome.

Yes, your notebook should have 2 memory slots and each slot can take at least a 16 GB memory module.

You can add a 16 GB chip to the existing one, but the memory will most likely run in single channel mode.

In order for the memory to run in the higher performing dual channel mode, you normally have to install memory in matching capacities (2 x 8 GB, 2 x 16 GB).

I would definitely go with the 16 GB chip in case sometime in the future you want to upgrade further and replace the 8 GB chip with a 16 GB chip.
