Hi folks,
I opened my laptop back panel to clean the dust that may have been collected from about a year now. I took off the detachable components and cleaned them with usual pc cleaning kit brush. then i opened the fans and cleaned them using an air blower. all of this is normal since i have done it before. however, this time i noticed that after closing, the PC won't boot up. And then i thought may be i left a connector unplugged, So i tried opening back but one of the screws won't come out. I tried to force open and yet i only bent one end of the radiator.the PC still won't boot up. I think i might need to give it for repair. Oh and i applied a new thermal paste too. But before giving it to repair, can anyone give me a little bit of an idea as to what amount am i looking at for the repair. secondly, the hinge caps, i want them replaced as well since they have broken as well. Anyone who can give me any idea of the minimum amount of repair cost, please let me know.

Hi so upon inspecting further, i found the jumper connector was damaged. i did get a spare jumper connector from a spare hp laptop of mine that i don't use. since both are out of warranty, it was fine. i switched the cables and the pc booted up. i applied fresh new thermal compound. the gaming pc is working fine and i just enjoyed GTA V last night. the temps are under control and there's no frame Drop that i could notice. but when it comes to 1080p editing, i would require more RAM so I'm thinking to upgrade the 16GB RAM to 32GB. otherwise, the PC is absolutely fine for editing as well.

Hi @adamhunter_0803

Nice work troubleshooting and resolving the jumper connector issue—it sounds like your gaming PC is running smoothly now.

And GTA V without frame drops? That’s a win!

It’s great to hear the temperatures are under control as well.

Applying fresh thermal compound was a smart move, especially for gaming-intensive sessions.

Upgrading your RAM is a great idea for boosting your laptop's performance, especially for gaming and multitasking.

Here’s how you can approach this upgrade for your HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk2000:

1. Check Compatibility:
Verify the supported RAM specifications for your laptop model.

Typically, the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk2000 supports up to 32GB DDR4 RAM with a clock speed of 3200MHz.

Ensure your motherboard and processor can handle the increase to 32GB.

2. Choose the Right RAM:
You need DDR4 SO-DIMM (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module) RAM compatible with your system.

Match the speed of the existing RAM (e.g., 3200MHz) to avoid performance mismatches.

3. Check RAM Slots:
Your laptop likely has two RAM slots. If it currently has 16GB, it could either have one 16GB or two 8GB.

To upgrade to 32GB, you may need to replace the existing RAM with two 16GB RAM's.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
