HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk10000 Laptop PC (8VD49AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I have an HP Pavillion Gaming Laptop and I’m having an issue with it crashing only when plugged in and mostly when playing games. It runs perfectly fine on battery but as soon as I plug it in it crashes. It does different things when it crashes too, sometimes when it crashes the screen just goes black, other times the screen will go black but then flash back to whatever I was on before and stay frozen, and lastly, sometimes it’ll just freeze on the screen I was on without going black and make a buzzing sound. My only option when this happens is to unplug the computer and hold down the power button until it completely turns off and then turn it back on again. If I do this without unplugging it doesn’t work, when it turns back on the screen stays black. Yesterday I was playing a game and when I plugged in the charger it just turned off instead of crashing but when I turned it back on my keyboard wasn’t working so I still had to hold down the power button although my main issue is not they keyboard.

Again, this only happens when plugged in. It usually happens when running games but it’s not an overheating issue as my setup makes it impossible for it to overheat, It’s not the games either because all the games I play are compatible with my laptop and it also recently happened while I was simply on a call through the website Zoom. My laptop dies very quickly while gaming so playing off the charger isn’t an option, despite the battery dying quickly, I don’t believe there is any issue surrounding the battery because it passed the diagnostic/troubleshooting test. I’ve also done every diagnostic test available on the HP support assistant and everything comes back with no issues. I’m really not sure what else to do and at this point, my laptop is practically inoperable for the reason that I bought it.

I see that you are facing issues with your HP Pavilion Gaming 15-Dk10000 Laptop PC (8VD49AV) wherein it keeps crashing when power adapter is plugged in.

I suggest that you run an extensive system test by following the steps listed below:
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
3. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
4. From the main menu, click System Test and then click on Extensive Test.
5. Click Run once.
