New Omen owner here. In HP Support Center, it says Updates available. One of them is Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver. It shows it as SoftPag number: sp96120 Version: 1904.12.0.1208. I choose to Download and install. It launching an Intel setup screen and it extracts files and then the screen disappears with no status. Apparently HP Support Center doesn't know what happened and asks me if the install was successful, failed, or not sure.  If I go into Device Manager and System devices, Intel Management Engine Interface properties shows Driver version: 1914.12.0.1256. Could this be why the install is failing as the one in HP Support Center looks like an old version? If so, why does HP Support Center say I need to install an update to MEI?

@Maxtune You can uninstall the current version of the HP Support Assistant/Center using the device manager,

once done, install the latest version from HP, use this link for details: click here,

If that doesn't work, please check if there are any updates on the HP website: click here to access the same.

I checked Windows 10 "Uninstall a program" and I do not see anything related to HP Support Assistant or Center. How do I uninstall this and try to reinstall per your recommendation? All I have listed related to HP to uninstall are:

HP Audio Switch

HP Connection Optimizer

HP Documentation

HP Software Framework

OK. I instead found it listed under Settings > Apps. I was able to uninstall it. I installed from the link you provided. It installed version 9.5.353.0.

The original problem I described is still there. It shows that an update us available and it is Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver. It shows it as SoftPag number: sp96120 Version: 1904.12.0.1208. I choose to Download and install. It installs and then says Failed installation.  If I go into Device Manager and System devices, Intel Management Engine Interface properties shows Driver version: 1914.12.0.1256. HP Support Center keeps saying I need to install an update to MEI.

Also, when I launch this new installed version of HP Support Assistant as you suggested, when launched it keeps saying an update to support center is available and if I say yes to update, it directs me to the Microsoft Store. Should I update even though I just installed it from the other link you provided?

This is so frustrating.

@Maxtune If the issue occurs after a re-installation as well, this is most likely an issue with the user account, I suggest you create a new admin account and check if the issue occurs on the new account with the HP support assistant, if it doesn't, simply switch the files from the old account to the new one, and delete the old one as it may be corrupted, however, if the new one doesn't work either, please backup all personal data into an external storage and perform a system reset using the steps mentioned here.
