I m new to gaming laptops since hp victus 16 is my first one. I bought it few days ago and everything was fine. Windows 11 were already installed, i installed all the drivers , done all the required updates and didn't have any problems. Yesterday, i booted it and after a few seconds the fans started spinning without stopping while idle.(it hasn't done it before). They are not very loud but they don't stop spinning at all. On omen gaming hub i have it on eco mode, always fan on on bios is disabled and the temperatures while idle are 35-40. Is it normal the fans keep spinning without stopping?

Hi @nikoguer,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's not uncommon for gaming laptops like the HP Victus 16 to have their fans running even while idle, as they are designed to maintain optimal temperatures to protect the hardware. However, if the fans are spinning continuously and this behavior is new, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Background Processes
- Task Manager: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and check for any background processes that might be using CPU resources. Even small tasks can cause the fans to run continuously.
Adjust Power Settings
- Power Options: Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select a power plan that prioritizes quiet operation, such as the "Power saver" plan.
- Advanced Settings: Under the selected power plan, click on "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings." Look for processor power management settings and set the minimum processor state to a lower percentage (e.g., 5%).
Update BIOS and Drivers
- BIOS Update: Ensure that your BIOS is up to date. You can check for BIOS updates on the HP Support website.
- Driver Update: Make sure all your drivers, especially the chipset and thermal management drivers, are up to date.
OMEN Gaming Hub Settings
- Eco Mode: Verify that Eco Mode is indeed enabled and check if there are any other fan-related settings you can adjust.
- Reset Settings: Try resetting the settings in the OMEN Gaming Hub to default and then reconfigure them.
Fan Control Software
- Third-Party Software: Consider using third-party fan control software like SpeedFan or MSI Afterburner to manually adjust the fan curves. However, use these tools with caution as improper settings can lead to overheating.
Check for Dust and Obstructions
- Physical Check: Make sure that the laptop vents are not blocked by dust or obstructions. Clean the vents gently using compressed air if needed.
Hardware Diagnostics
- HP Hardware Diagnostics: Use the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool to run a full system check. This can help identify any hardware issues that might be causing the fans to run continuously.
System Restore
- Restore Point: If the issue started recently, consider using a system restore point to revert your system to a state before the issue began.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially resolve the issue with your HP Victus 16's fans spinning continuously while idle.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your quick reply but as it seems after 2 days of not using the laptop, i booted it and the fans are acting normal again. I hope it stays that way and if the problem occurs again i will use the solutions you mentioned
