Device: HP Victus 15-FB3011AX | R5 8645HS | 3050 6GB | 16GB DDR5

This laptop carelessly allows CPU to work on 95-101c temperature in CPU Intensive tasks. Also in default profile of omen gaming hub it operates on 60-75c in idle. In high temperature many times laptop fans doesn't max out speed they just stay around 2200. The bios was updated automatically from windows updates to v14 for 8DD0. Using it since Feb 27 2026. I had to disable turbo boost from control panel power plan settings which fixed idle stay at 65c to 40-52c but still it goes to 100c in cpu tasks such as compiling software codes or video editing. I tried quiet profile and also tried max fan speed in omen gaming hub which were not useful. I had mostly used this device on cooling pad and around 28-30c room temperature. I monitor temperature using MSI Afterburner and HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows App.

Then you have to do it proper cleaning and repasting. Will you do it yourself without damaging if I guide you? Follow below steps if you can. It's super easy if you done it before but that your decision to take if need to accept then risk and confident you can do it. If it's under warrenty or you not that confident then visit nearest HP service center with laptop and it's documents for this job.

Here are steps to do it properly (Taken from another user reddit guide):

Cleaning and repasting the CPU and GPU with PTM7950 or Arctic MX-6 can effectively improving heat transfer and airflow.

I’ll explain this only in short. Before opening your laptop, do your own research on what tools and materials are required and what important precautions need to be taken. Watch disassembly YouTube for your laptop (or a similar HP model) to understand the process. Prepare all necessary items in advance, such as basic tools, PTM7950, Thermal paste, thermal putty (to replace worn thermal pads/putty on VRMs if needed), Cleaning supplies, etc. Again, Do your own research and proceed carefully and at your own risk.

Once opened, disconnect the battery, remove the heatsink assembly, and clean the fans and air vents from both the inside and outside. I don’t have an official video for this exact model, but the video linked below shows what needs to be done. Your heatsink design may differ, but the process is the same: detach it, open it, and clean the fans and vents as demonstrated.

After cleaning, reassemble the heatsink. If the original thermal pads or putty on VRMs are worn or dry, apply thermal putty first where needed. Then apply PTM7950 on the CPU and GPU (or thermal paste of you not using PTM7950). Use the video guide linked below, follow the thermal putty section if required, otherwise skip ahead and follow the PTM7950 application method.

(For users who are not using PTM7950, Use X method to apply thermal paste properly. Youtube videos on this topic also available)

After completing, apply heatsink carefully, connect battery cable and attach back panel of your laptop.

Its under warranty and I was asking if it is normal or if it need bios update from hp to fix it. Even Omen Gaming Hub showing <94c as normal green text and more than 95 as orange text.

I think visiting service center or thermal repasting with ptm7950 is only option. For temporary fix disabling turbo boost, max processor state(95%) [this will impact performance]. HP is not solving it through bios update i have latest bios but fan speed not increasing i had to boost manually while running something heavy or when temperature reaches above 80c.
