HP Victus 15 Gaming Laptop

Dear Reader,

I hope you are doing well.

I am writing to report a serious issue with my HP Victus 15 Gaming Laptop (12th Gen Intel Core i5, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4GB, 16GB RAM), which has become completely non-functional.

Here is what happened:

I was playing CS:GO for around 90 minutes. After closing the game, I locked the screen and left the laptop idle for about two hours. When I returned, the laptop was completely unresponsive—most likely due to battery drain. I plugged in the charger, but the charging LED did not turn on, and the laptop did not start.

I tried different outlets, including moving to another room. However, when I plugged it in again, I saw smoke coming out from the laptop, and I immediately disconnected the power source for safety.

This situation is very concerning. I would like to understand:

What caused this issue? Could it be related to power source fluctuations in my home?

Has the motherboard, GPU, or battery been damaged due to this incident?

What exactly might have failed internally to lead to smoke emission?

At the moment, I am not using the laptop at all for safety reasons. I would really appreciate your insight into what may have caused this and what components are likely affected.

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s an incredibly serious and distressing situation—and I’m really glad you acted quickly by unplugging the laptop when you saw smoke. Based on your description, this is almost certainly a hardware-level failure, and it’s wise that you’ve stopped using the device for safety reasons.

This sounds like a potentially serious hardware issue. If your HP Victus 15 Gaming Laptop is emitting smoke and not charging, it could indicate a failure in the internal components, possibly related to overheating or electrical faults. Here are the steps you should take immediately:

1. Immediate Action

  • Unplug the Charger: Disconnect the charger from the laptop immediately to prevent further damage.
  • Turn Off the Laptop: If it isn't already off, shut down the laptop.
  • Do Not Attempt to Power It On: Trying to turn it on could exacerbate the issue.

2. Safety Precautions

  • Ensure the laptop is in a safe location, away from flammable materials.
  • Allow it to cool down completely.
