I recently updated my HP Victus 15 laptop and since the update I’ve been facing several performance-related issues. The system has become noticeably slower during normal tasks, startup time has increased, and some applications freeze randomly for a few seconds before responding again.

Laptop Model: HP Victus 15-fa1093dx
Processor: Intel Core i5 13th Gen
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050
Operating System: Windows 11

I have already tried restarting the device, updating drivers, checking startup applications, and running Windows troubleshooting tools, but the issue still continues.

The main problems I’m experiencing include:

  • Slow boot and shutdown times
  • Lag during multitasking and gaming
  • Random freezing in Chrome and Discord
  • Higher fan noise and temperature after update
  • Wi-Fi disconnects after sleep mode

Has anyone else experienced similar issues after recent Windows or BIOS updates on the HP Victus series? I would appreciate any suggestions regarding BIOS rollback, driver fixes, or system optimization. Learn more

Hi @Syedaayesha

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the performance concerns you are experiencing with your HP Victus 15-fa1093dx after the recent Windows update. Thank you for sharing the details and the steps you have already tried. Based on the symptoms described, here are recommended actions to help stabilize and improve system performance:

Step 1: Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App
Open the HP App from Windows Start > HP App. Select Diagnose & Fix and allow it to scan for system issues. This tool automatically checks for performance bottlenecks and applies corrective measures.
HP App – Diagnose & Fix Guide

Step 2: Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
Visit the official HP Support page for your model:
HP Victus 15-fa1093dx Drivers & Downloads
Download and install the latest BIOS and Intel chipset drivers. A BIOS rollback is not recommended unless specifically advised in HP documentation, but ensuring the latest version is applied can resolve compatibility issues after Windows updates.

Step 3: NVIDIA Graphics and Intel Drivers via HP
Update the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 driver and Intel graphics driver directly from the HP Support page above. Even if Windows Update has installed newer drivers, HP-certified versions are optimized for your system.

Step 4: Power Reset and Thermal Check

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Disconnect the power adapter.
  3. Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect and power on.
This clears residual charge and helps stabilize hardware.
Additionally, ensure vents are clear of dust and the laptop is placed on a hard surface for proper airflow.

Step 5: Wi-Fi Disconnects After Sleep Mode
In HP App, run Network Check under Diagnose & Fix. If the issue persists, reinstall the Realtek/Intel wireless driver from the HP Support page.

Step 6: System Optimization

  • In HP App, use Performance Tune-up Check to clear temporary files and optimize startup.
  • Disable unnecessary background apps via Task Manager > Startup tab.
  • Ensure Windows is fully updated (Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates).

These steps are designed to restore responsiveness, reduce lag, and stabilize connectivity. Please proceed in the given order, and let us know the results after applying them.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
