Hello-

I have a HP Victus Gaming Laptop that fails to boot.  The keyboard will flash, fans start, and then it immediately dies.

Insight or help would be appreciated.

Hi @Mamacita541,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for explaining the symptoms clearly. When an HP Victus Gaming Laptop powers on briefly (keyboard flashes, fans spin) and then shuts down, it usually points to a hardware or firmware-level issue.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any external devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (leave battery connected if internal).
  • Try powering on again.

2. Check for Blink Codes

3. Run UEFI Diagnostics

  • If the laptop stays on long enough, press Esc repeatedly at startup → F2 for diagnostics.
  • Run System Tests (especially memory and battery).

4. Reset BIOS

  • Disconnect power, then press Windows + B and Power together for 2–3 seconds.
  • This forces a BIOS recovery if the firmware is corrupted.

5. Check AC Adapter and Battery

  • Ensure the adapter is HP-certified and delivering the correct wattage.
  • If possible, test with another adapter or remove the battery and try AC-only.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
