Hi everyone,
I recently purchased an HP Victus ( i5 11400 H ) and i have an issued regarding ram speed. Stock ram was running at 2666 Mhz and today I have replaced the stock 8 GB with Kingston Fury Impact 2X8Gb 3200Mhz. The problem is that this also is running at 2666 Mhz ... I have updated the BIOS to F14 ver / all drivers up to date / WIN 11
Tested this facts with CPUZ and HWInfo
I would like that someone enlight me about this situation.
Best regards,
Andrei

Hi, Andrei:
Unfortunately, I don't know exactly why the memory is only running at 2666 MHz, but normally gaming or high-performance memory has faster timing specs than the standard memory HP installed, and sometimes that messes with the speed.
I can tell you that the memory will not run at the full 3200 MHz speed because according to chapter 1 of the service manual the i5 processors can only run the memory at 2933 MHz.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
You may want to exchange the performance memory with the standard DDR4-3200 memory with the standard timings and hopefully it will run at 2933 MHz.

HI,
FURY Plug N Play memory will run in DDR4 systems up to the speed allowed by the manufacturer’s system BIOS. PnP cannot increase the system memory speed faster than is allowed by the manufacturer’s BIOS. FURY Plug N Play DDR4 products support XMP 2.0 specifications, so overclocking can also be achieved by enabling the built-in XMP profile.
This is JDEC Certified Memory... sorry but I cannot accept this solution.
Also in another thread an user was running the stock memory provided by HP ( also on a Victus ) at only 2666 mhz from maximum of 2933 Mhz as it was advertised.

Hi:
This is a peer-to-peer forum, not HP technical support.
I do not work for or represent HP.
I was only trying to help the best way I could.
The BIOS must have limited the memory speed to 2666 MHz for some reason, since that was the original memory chip speed that HP installed in your notebook.
HP would have installed a DDR4-2933 or DDR4-3200 memory chip in your notebook if the memory could have run at that speed.
It makes no sense to me because the memory should be running at 2933 MHz, according to the service manual.
Assuming your notebook is still under warranty, you may want to contact HP technical support in Romania for further assistance.

Yes I agree with you... the memory installed is Samsung 2x4GB ddr4 3200 ( runs at 2666 mhz ). Maybe a BIOS update in the future will solve this situation. I am not returning the HyperX because i know that its not the memory fault.
Thanks again for your quick response and have a great day
