Hi,
When I run hp diagnostics tool during bootup using the 'F2' key, it is showing in text mode. Also, I see only a few tests are listed. Check the picture.
How can I change it into graphical mode?
I already tried loading default values in BIOS. It didnt fix it.
Thanks

Hi @CreativeArts,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand that you're using the HP Diagnostics Tool (UEFI) via F2, and it is launching in text mode instead of the graphical version you're expecting on your OMEN 16.1" Gaming Laptop PC 16-b1000 series.
🔧 Why You're Seeing the Text-Based Interface
What you're currently seeing is the built-in, BIOS-level version of the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool (version 2.2.8.0). This is a minimal version stored in the system firmware, and it's designed to run without requiring Windows or a hard drive.
That's why it's in text mode and has limited test options.
Steps to try:
1. Update BIOS
- Visit the OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b1000 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
- Download and install the latest BIOS update for your model.
2. Update HP Diagnostics Tool
- Download the latest HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI from: 👉 HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support
- Install it on your laptop or create a bootable USB with the tool.
3. Access Diagnostics via UEFI Menu
- Restart your laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly during boot, then press F2.
- If graphical mode is available, it will load automatically.
- If not, it may still be limited due to missing components.
4. Create a USB-Based Graphical Diagnostics Tool
- On another PC:
- Download the tool from HP’s site.
- Use it to create a USB diagnostics drive.
- Boot your OMEN laptop from this USB to access full graphical diagnostics.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
