  1. In HP victus, company say about 7-8 hour battery backup under optimal conditions. But it only last for 3 to 3.5 hour. HP must update the power management or bios or increase battery capacity by upgrading the batteries with newer ones. And they should also optimise latest 13 gen processor for stable performance. It can also help them to increase battery life.

Hi @Luminous05,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing disappointing battery performance with your HP Victus laptop, especially if the real-world usage falls significantly short of the advertised battery life. Here are some steps and considerations to help address this issue:

1. Optimize Power Settings

  • Power Plan: Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings. Choose the Power saver plan or adjust the Balanced plan settings to prioritize battery life over performance.
  • Battery Saver Mode: Enable Battery Saver mode from the battery icon in the system tray. This mode reduces background activity and adjusts settings to extend battery life.

2. Update Drivers and BIOS

  • Drivers: Ensure that all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your specific model.
  • BIOS Update: Check if there’s a BIOS update available for your laptop. BIOS updates can sometimes improve power management and system stability. You can find BIOS updates on the HP Support website under your laptop’s model page.

3. Battery Calibration and Health

  • Battery Calibration: Let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts off, then fully charge it without interruption. This can help recalibrate the battery meter.
  • Battery Health Check: Use tools like Battery Report in Windows to check battery health. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type powercfg /batteryreport to generate a report that you can review for battery health and performance.

4. Check Background Processes

  • Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check for processes consuming excessive CPU or GPU resources. Sometimes, background processes can significantly impact battery life.
  • Startup Programs: Disable unnecessary startup programs that may be consuming resources. Go to Task Manager > Startup and manage startup applications.

5. System and Software Optimization

  • Updates: Ensure Windows and all installed software are up to date. Updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.
  • Power Settings Optimization: Adjust the advanced power settings by going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings. Check settings related to the processor and hard disk to optimize for battery life.

6. External Factors

  • Temperature: Ensure your laptop is used in a well-ventilated area and not exposed to excessive heat. Overheating can affect battery performance and overall system efficiency.
  • Brightness and Usage: Lowering screen brightness and avoiding resource-heavy applications can help extend battery life.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
