HP OMEN 16-k0011ns (7E7T3EA#ABE)

Hi!

I have a HP OMEN 16-k0011ns (7E7T3EA#ABE) laptop and I want to know if the two USB C ports are connected to the GPU.

How can I know it?

Thanks!

Hi @VansFannel, Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

To determine whether the USB-C ports on your HP OMEN 16-k0011ns are wired to the NVIDIA GPU (rather than the integrated Intel GPU), here are a few steps you can follow:

Method 1: Use GPU-Z to Check Active GPU

  1. Download GPU-Z and run it.
  2. Connect an external monitor via USB-C to DisplayPort adapter or cable.
  3. Observe the “Bus Interface” and “GPU Load” sections:
    • If the NVIDIA GPU shows activity when the external display is connected, it’s likely driving the USB-C port.
    • If only the Intel GPU is active, the USB-C port is routed through the iGPU.

Method 2: Use NVIDIA Control Panel

  1. Right-click on the desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Go to “Set up multiple displays”.
  3. Connect your external monitor via USB-C.
  4. If the monitor appears under the NVIDIA GPU section, then the USB-C port is connected to the NVIDIA GPU.

Method 3: Check with DxDiag

  1. Press Win + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter.
  2. Save the report and look under the Display Devices section.
  3. If the external monitor is listed under the NVIDIA GPU, it confirms the routing.
