Hi @vijhhh2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand how important it is to have Wake on AC enabled, especially if you're using your Victus by HP 16.1" Gaming Laptop (16-e0000, 2V9A1AV) in a workstation setup or for remote access.
Unfortunately, Wake on AC is not available or exposed in the BIOS for many consumer-grade HP laptops, including the Victus series. This feature is typically reserved for HP business-class devices (like EliteBook or ZBook) that support enterprise-level power management.
What You Can Try
1. Check for BIOS Update
Sometimes HP adds new features in BIOS updates.
- Visit the official support page:
👉 Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 (2V9A1AV) | HP® Support - Download and install the latest BIOS update available for your model.
2. Use Wake on LAN (Alternative)
If Wake on AC isn’t available, Wake on LAN (WoL) might be a viable alternative.
- Enable WoL in BIOS (if available)
- Configure your network adapter in Windows:
- Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters
- Right-click your Ethernet/Wi-Fi adapter > Properties
- Under Power Management, enable:
- “Allow this device to wake the computer”
- “Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer”
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Why did HP restrict features via BIOS despite my full payment for the notebook? I am certain that I will not perform a BIOS update. In my previous attempt, it resulted in the malfunction of my motherboard, and your service representatives blamed me for the damage. Consequently, I am questioning the value of purchasing HP laptops. I have no intention of making another purchase and will not encourage my family members to do so either. I assure you of my sincerity.

Hi @vijhhh2,
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. I completely understand how frustrating it feels when a feature you expect isn’t visible in the BIOS, and I want to clarify how this works on HP Victus laptops.
About Wake on AC:
Wake on AC (powering on automatically when AC is connected) is a feature that is hardware and BIOS-dependent. On HP consumer notebooks like Victus, the BIOS is simplified intentionally. This is not a restriction tied to your purchase but a design choice made for stability, security, and to ensure consistent performance for all users. In other words, some advanced options that may exist on workstation or business-class models (like HP ZBook or EliteBook) are not included on gaming/consumer models like Victus.
Why HP does this:
- Reliability: Advanced BIOS toggles, if misconfigured, can affect thermal profiles, battery safety, or system behavior.
- Consistency: Consumer systems are tuned for plug-and-play use without requiring BIOS customization.
- Supportability: With a common, streamlined BIOS, HP can provide more predictable troubleshooting and warranty support.
Regarding BIOS updates:
I’m truly sorry to hear about your previous bad experience. In general, BIOS updates are extensively validated by HP engineering to protect hardware. If an update failure damaged your system, that should never have been placed back on you unfairly, and I regret the way that situation was handled. That said, if you do not wish to update your BIOS, you don’t have to your system will continue to function as designed.
At present, Wake on AC is not available on the HP Victus BIOS. If this feature is critical to you, the only practical path would be considering one of our commercial systems where this feature is supported.
We value your feedback, even if you are frustrated with us, because it helps us shape future product design. I’ll make sure your concerns about BIOS options and your BIOS update experience are shared with the right teams.
Take care and have an amazing day!
