HP OMEN 15-ce000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I have the DOS version of this laptop (without any OS preinstalled). I bought it so I could install Windows 7 on it (and because it's cheaper too). But during installation process the "blue screen of death" appears and the message that says "the bios in this system is not fully acpi compliant" How do i install Win7 on this machine?
Should I downgrade the BIOS? Is it possible?

Hello @Rock343

I have no way of knowing if Win7 will work on it. No one has reported doing so here afaik.

There is no bios made for Windows 7 since HP only supports Windows 10 on Omen CE series.

You would have to enable legacy mode and disable secure boot in the bios before installing win7.

You would also have to hunt for drivers online indvidually for the various hardware.

There are alternatives to purchasing Windows 10 activation on the cheap.

I recomend Windows 10 Home version if you do as some have reported issues with the Omen Command Center not installing on Pro.

Hello @Rock343

Usually this screen appears when trying to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash Drive and the Flash Drive being connected to a USB 3.0 port, the drivers for the USB 3.0 must be installed to the ISO of WIndows7 before creating the bootable USB.

Are you doing this or is it with a DVD Disk?

Please let me know.

Best regards.

I have a 15-ax256nr

I installed windows 7 on it.

i needed to enable usb legacy support in the bios.

after that I needed to download the usb drivers for the laptop and put them in one of the drives.(they cant be in the usb)

then I needed to download the driver for the ssd that i was using. (samsung960)

this part proved difficult because the website only had the install utility not the actual .inf file.

I was able to extract the inf from the installer but it still didnt work because windows 7 installer only uses 32bit drivers

finally i found the driver on the internet someone had posted for free. which was great.

after I finally installed windows.

i could not locate all the drivers for my system. I am still left without a bunch of essential drivers like display and usb.

I'm currently giving up and trying to find a way to clone windows 10 out of my hdd and onto my new ssd.

shame such a great laptop came with such a slow drive.

it makes the laptop very sluggish.

Hi everyone, Angtam, as a HP employee you should know that this particular series wasn't buit with a DVD unit ( you should know that, if you are really an "HP employee") so...maybe you should check for a REAL solution, instead of giving random/default answers, you're doing it for rating, not driven by intention of helping, right? right...
