I purchased this laptop with 8gb ram, when building it on the website there was a option for 32gb ram, at the time of purchase i couldnt afford that much ram so i bought a 32gb set of crucial that should be compatible with the laptop but i cant get it to work. i get the caps lock light 3:2 blink code and cant figure out why it doesnt work, its crucial 32gb (2x16) 2666 ddr4 cl19 1.2v dr sodimm 260 pin if anyone knows whats going on id love to hear got a good deal on the ram and i need more than the 8gb i have because my games are using it all and its bottlenecking my system

Take the ram back out. Put only one stick into the first slot and run the laptop. If it works, try the other stick in the same slot.
Then if all the sticks work this way, take a stick and test the next slot. So you are testing each slot independantly.
If all the slots work, there shouldnt be a problem. IF there is, put the original stick back in and contact Crucial and explain what happend. They guarantee their ram to work.

So contacted crucial they said it should work, but I might have to reset the cmos and need to contact hp to find out how. Contacted hp and 30 min later they said that the cmos cannot be reset. Really think you should be able to do **bleep** like that on a $1800 computer, and that their only suggestion would be to return the crucial ram and put hp 16gb ram in the computer at $550 per stick.
