Hp Omen 16
Microsoft Windows 11

So long context ahead, but  I just recently purchased an Hp Omen 16 from best buy and after updating all possible drivers and windows updates available, my laptop was still very laggy. Any sort of operation took a long time to load, games that would typically be very easy to run were running at an atrocious 10 frames per second, and not even the task manager was capable of loading. Cpu temps at the time were always good. Removed some bloatware, changed some settings to shift more towards performance, and the issues still persisted. Thinking the newer windows 11 the laptop came with was the problem, I decided to reinstall windows 11 on a usb and am currently booting the OS from that, which at the time seemed to solve the original issue. Laptop was running very smoothly , cpu stayed relatively low %, games were able to run and did so with very great fps, and every operation I needed to run worked. however, that was until I plugged the laptop in, realizing that the issue (or a new one) may be there instead.

When running on battery the laptop runs very smoothly, and cpu intensive tasks like gaming are done with very high fps while the cpu still stays at a good temperature. But as soon as the laptop is plugged in, the cpu becomes unresponsive, common tasks are very laggy again, and cpu %  was always over 85%, typically near 100% though. I've tried editing power plan settings to no success, and have yet to find a solution as to why the laptop runs near perfect when running on battery, but when plugged in the laptop is near inoperable, and has been this way since out of the box.

So context aside, why possibly would my laptop (assuming processor), become so slow and practically unusable once plugged in?

Have been trying to solve this for a while now to no success, any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

I also had the similar issue. One thing I found out is the AC Adapter that comes with Omen Laptop is not quality controlled properly. I ran diagnostics on AC Adapter and it showed it had some issues. I made sure the connections on the AC Adapter is good by literally forcing the cables in the adapter. Now it's working as expected (so far). Maybe run the diagnostics and then verify if that was the case.

Other than this, I am loving this laptop so far.
