So

I accidentally sat on my hp omen 16 xd0015ax , and unfortunately, there was was debris between the keyboard part and the panel

Which I think maybe created 2 dents in the screen and 2 pressure marks ,

The two round one are dents on the glass and maybe LCD has scattered away,

The other one like a dash is a pressure spot .

And one at the very bottom is also pressure spot .

Can sitting on a laptop of a brief second can cause such damage?

And I want to know if it will get worse by time or will remain like this

It's only been three months since buying this laptop and it's not under adp .

I was thinking to repair from a third party repair shop ,  as the official hp quotation is around half the price of the whole laptop .

How much would it cost to replace it third party?

Or should I still opt for official hp repair

Hi @Compariso

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—and ouch, that sounds like a painful accident for your HP Omen 16-xd0015AX. 😣 Let’s break this down and help you decide the best path forward.

It is indeed possible for sitting on a laptop, even briefly, to cause damage, particularly if there was debris between the keyboard and the screen. Pressure from sitting can lead to several types of damage, including:

Dents in the Screen Glass: Physical pressure can easily cause dents if the screen is subjected to impact or pressure against a hard object.

Pressure Marks: These are common when the screen is pressed against something, causing distortion to the LCD screen beneath the glass.

Broken Glass and LCD Scattering: If the impact is substantial, it can cause damage to the glass and affect the LCD, leading to scattering pixels or black spots.

If your HP Omen laptop has suffered such damages, HP advises against trying to repair the screen yourself, as it may void warranty options and potentially cause further damage. It is recommended to contact HP support for repairs.

Accidental damage is typically considered as Customer Induced Damage (CID) and is not covered under a standard warranty, unless you have purchased Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) beforehand.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Can you provide me with an estimate of how much would it cost to fix this damage from official HP authorised service centre , considering this is the only damage
