Microsoft Windows 11

I just purchased a new Hp Omen 16.1 AMD Razen 5800H.

It came with a 230w charging brick.

Will HP thunderbolt 230w charge?

Cheers

Marty

PS. Love the new Lappy

Its specs says it has

         1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate (HP Sleep and Charge); 2 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate; 1 HDMI 2.1; 1 RJ-45; 1 AC smart pin; 1 headphone/microphone combo

The USB-C port is NOT a Thunderbolt™ 3 port nor Thunderbolt™ 4 port. The dock is not compatible with your machine machine.

I know the G5 does not have enough juice to support 230W. At this stage HP has the following docks (new generation)

What is your Omen 16.1 ? Does it have  Thunderbolt™ 3 or Thunderbolt™ 4 port ? My plan is to test the dock with my HP Omen (only 200W charger) sometimes after our Winter this year. I believe they should work together. My Omen works with my USB-C G5 dock but the dock is too weak to charge my Omen when ON.

Hi Banhien,

Thanks for your help.

I have a G5 dock and the same as you, Yes it's too weak to charge.

My omen has this USB c port

1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)

Here is also a link to the Laptop

I need to buy another dock for work, so I thought if the thunderbolt 230w would charge I would get one of these and pass on the G5 that I'm using now.

Cheers
