I have an Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics card and an intel i7 13700H processor. I am a Victus 15 series gaming laptop user. I did not have any low fps problems in games until before August this year. My bios version, intel driver, nvidia driver are up to date. I cannot get stable performance especially in counter strike 2. I talked to Hp support officials in Turkey. They suggested windows clean installation and finally I did windows clean installation. They did gpu and cpu temperatures, strest tests on my device and I saw that there was no problem like bottleneck. They did the tests that needed to be done and there was no problem with my computer. I have tried every conceivable setting without breaking the graphics card and cpu settings and without removing them from their default settings, and now I don't even have any software installed on my computer that can lower my fps after the format. I'm so tired of this low fps problem and I've been trying for months myself, including tech support, and I can't solve my problem in any way. Please don't suggest %appdata%, temp, clean windows installation, disk cleanup, etc. Please don't suggest anything. Nobody else is having as much fps problems as us victus users in any competitive (fps) type games. I am waiting for your help.

Hi @ozan17,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
It sounds like you've taken thorough steps to troubleshoot the FPS issue on your HP Victus 15 with the NVIDIA RTX 4050 and Intel i7-13700H. Despite all your efforts, the problem persists, which can be very frustrating. Here are some additional steps to consider:
1. Verify the Power Plan and Performance Mode
- Ensure the laptop is in "Performance Mode" in HP OMEN Gaming Hub (or similar software provided by HP).
- Set the Windows Power Plan to High Performance:
- Right-click the Start button > Power Options > Choose "High Performance" or "Ultimate Performance" if available.
- Check NVIDIA Control Panel settings:
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Set "Power Management Mode" to Prefer Maximum Performance.
2. Check CS2-Specific Settings
Counter-Strike 2 can be sensitive to system configurations:
- Lower unnecessary graphics settings:
- Set all graphics to Low or Medium, and ensure "VSync" is off.
- Limit max FPS using the console command: fps_max 300 (or lower if your display refresh rate is 60/144Hz).
- Verify Launch Options:
- Right-click CS2 in Steam > Properties > Launch Options:
3. Check Background Processes
Even after a clean installation, some processes can interfere:
- Disable unnecessary startup programs:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager > Startup > Disable non-essential programs.
- Disable Windows Game Bar and Xbox Game Overlay:
- Settings > Gaming > Xbox Game Bar > Toggle Off.
4. Update or Revert Drivers
Although your drivers are up-to-date, recent updates can occasionally introduce issues:
- Try rolling back NVIDIA drivers:
- Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to clean install a stable driver version (e.g., from July or earlier).
- Download older drivers from NVIDIA's official website.
5. Investigate Hardware Throttling
Even though stress tests indicated no issues, throttling under real-world gaming scenarios can differ:
- Use HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to monitor CPU and GPU usage, temperature, and clock speeds while gaming.
- Ensure your laptop is properly ventilated:
- Use a cooling pad to improve airflow.
6. Check BIOS Configuration
Your BIOS version is up-to-date, but sometimes specific configurations can cause performance drops:
- Enter the BIOS and verify:
- Intel SpeedStep or Speed Shift: Disable for consistent CPU performance.
- Discrete Graphics Mode: Ensure the RTX 4050 is always prioritized over integrated graphics.
- Restore BIOS to default and reconfigure only necessary settings.
7. Test Another Game
If the FPS drop is mostly in CS2, test performance in other games. If the issue persists across titles, the problem might be system-related. Otherwise, it's likely specific to CS2 or its optimizations on your hardware.
8. Windows-Specific Settings
- Disable Windows Virtualization-Based Security (VBS):
- Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation > Turn Off.
- Ensure Game Mode is enabled:
- Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Toggle On.
9. Thermal Paste or Internal Cleaning
Over time, thermal paste may degrade, causing minor overheating and throttling. If possible:
- Have the thermal paste replaced by a professional.
- Clean dust from the laptop's internals and fans.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
