Hi @codoments,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Performance Mode on HP Victus for Gaming!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
When using HP Victus or OMEN computers for tasks that require high CPU utilization, such as gaming with CPU-heavy games like Minecraft, it's crucial to ensure your system's performance mode settings are optimized. HP Victus computers are designed to balance between performance and temperature, which might be affecting how your cores are being utilized.
Use the Performance Mode:
- HP Victus laptops come with a Performance Mode that maximizes CPU and GPU utilization. It's important to verify if your laptop is set to performance mode when gaming:
- Open the HP Gaming Hub and select your computer, then select the 'System Vitals' tab. This will help you monitor CPU and GPU utilization and temperatures.
Adjusting Performance Control:
- Performance Control allows you to select between different modes like Default, Comfort, or Performance on certain models. Make sure the laptop is set to Performance Mode, as it dynamically allocates power between CPU and GPU for optimal gaming performance.
Check Ambient Temperature and Airflow:
- Ensure the ambient room temperature is cool and airflow around the laptop is unobstructed. Proper cooling can improve the overall performance.
System Updates:
- Ensure your system and drivers are up to date. Sometimes issues can arise from outdated drivers or system software, which can impact CPU switching.
Fan Control Settings:
- If available, you might try adjusting fan speed settings to Turbo or Max to keep your system cool under heavy workloads, preventing the CPU from throttling down.
I hope this helps.
