Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T53AV)

Hi, I have a very specific problem, once I turn off my laptop, after a while my laptop doesnt wanna turn on even power button is not reacting (no light while switchin on), I can switch on laptop only, but only  when I open my laptop entirely with screws and remove cable directly from inside of the battery and connect it back to it, after this my CMOS reset and I can start my laptop on.... same process repeats also when I do 30second hardware reset with power button (after removing cable from battery and charger). Any advice pls? I tried all...

@Strapo133, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Victus 16.1 is experiencing a power delivery issue, likely related to the battery, power management circuit, or CMOS. Since the laptop only turns on after physically disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, here are some potential causes and solutions:

Potential Causes & Solutions

CMOS Battery or BIOS Issue

  • The fact that removing and reconnecting the battery resets the CMOS suggests a possible faulty CMOS battery or corrupted BIOS.
  • Solution:
    • Try updating or reinstalling the BIOS using a USB drive.
    • If possible, replace the CMOS battery (usually a CR2032 button cell).
    • If the CMOS battery is soldered or built-in, check for loose connections.

Battery or Battery Cable Issue

  • A malfunctioning battery or a faulty connection could prevent proper boot-up.
  • Solution:
    • Try running the laptop without the battery, using only the charger.
    • Inspect the battery connector pins for damage or dust.
    • If available, test with a different battery (same model).

Static Charge Build-up

  • Excessive static charge can sometimes prevent the power button from responding.
  • Solution:
    • Disconnect the charger and battery.
    • Hold the power button for at least 60 seconds to discharge any residual power.
    • Reconnect and power on.

Short Circuit or Motherboard Damage

  • If the laptop completely fails to power on, there may be a short circuit.
  • Solution:
    • Inspect the DC jack and motherboard components for any visible damage.
    • If possible, use a multimeter to check for shorted components.
    • A motherboard repair or replacement might be necessary.

Next Steps

  1. Try booting without the battery (only with AC power).
  2. Update BIOS via USB in recovery mode.
  3. Check the CMOS battery and replace if possible.
  4. Test a different battery if available.
  5. If none of the above work, a motherboard repair may be required

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
