Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T53AV)

Hello,
I have a Hp Victus 16, Ryzen 7 7840HS & RTX 4060. The last AMD driver that worked properly on this device is version 31.0.23013.1023 dated 28.11.2023. When I install the new version, my computer stays on black screen and I have to revert back to my old driver version. Is there any way to fix this?

Hi @IBaris,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble with your HP Victus 16’s graphics drivers causing a black screen issue. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix this problem.

Clean Installation of Drivers:

  • Uninstall Existing Drivers: Go to Device Manager, find the graphics card under "Display adapters," right-click, and select "Uninstall device." Check the option to delete the driver software for this device.
  • Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU): Download and run DDU in Safe Mode to completely remove any remaining traces of old drivers.
  • Install the New Driver: Download the latest driver version from the AMD website and install it. Make sure to choose the clean installation option if available.

Check Compatibility:

  • Driver Version Compatibility: Verify that the driver version you're trying to install is compatible with your GPU and Windows version. Sometimes newer drivers might not be fully optimized for all systems immediately.

BIOS and Firmware Updates:

  • Update BIOS: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your HP Victus 16. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve compatibility issues with new drivers.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure all other firmware components are up to date, including the graphics card firmware if applicable.

Windows Updates:

  • Check for Updates: Make sure your Windows OS is up to date. Sometimes driver issues are resolved with recent OS updates.

Rollback or Revert Drivers:

  • Driver Rollback: If the latest driver causes issues, try rolling back to a previous stable version. You can do this via Device Manager by selecting the "Roll Back Driver" option.

Check for Conflicts:

  • Third-Party Software: Disable or uninstall any third-party software that might conflict with the graphics driver, such as overclocking tools or performance enhancers.

Test in Safe Mode:

  • Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode and try installing the new driver there. Sometimes Safe Mode allows you to bypass issues that occur in normal operation.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the black screen issue related to driver updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
