omen 17 ck0007nt
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop suddenly shut down while it was idle with the screen open, and it hasn't turned on since. The power button light is on, the fans are running, but nothing appears on the screen (not even the Omen logo). I tried the following steps to resolve the issue, but they didn't work:

  • Tried removing the RAM sticks one by one
  • Tried removing the disks one by one
  • Removed the battery and tried to run it with the adapter
  • Drained the electrical charge (hard reset)
  • Connected an external monitor

If you have any suggestions regarding the issue, I would greatly appreciate them.

Hi @Mustafa65 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck0000 is experiencing a hardware-related issue since you've already tried several troubleshooting steps without success.

Here are a few additional suggestions that might help you diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check for Display Issues

  • External Monitor Test: Since you mentioned connecting an external monitor, ensure it is properly connected and powered on. If the external monitor also shows no signal, it could indicate an issue with the laptop's graphics card or motherboard.

2. BIOS Recovery

  • BIOS Recovery via Key Press: Some HP laptops have a feature that allows BIOS recovery using a specific key combination. Try pressing and holding the Windows + B keys simultaneously, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds. Release the Power button while still holding the Windows + B keys. If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Re-seat Components

  • Re-seat RAM and Storage Devices: Even though you tried removing the RAM and disks one by one, make sure to carefully re-seat them. A loose connection could cause the laptop not to boot properly.

4. Inspect for Hardware Damage

  • Check for Visible Damage: Open the laptop and inspect the motherboard and other components for any visible damage, such as burn marks, bulging capacitors, or loose connections.

5. Test with Another Power Adapter

  • Different Power Adapter: If possible, try using a different, compatible power adapter to rule out any issues with your current adapter.

6. Use HP Diagnostic Tools

  • HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI): If your laptop has the HP Hardware Diagnostics installed, you can use it to check for hardware issues. Restart the laptop and press the F2 key repeatedly to enter the diagnostics. Run the full system test.

7. CMOS Battery Reset

  • Reset CMOS Battery: Removing and reinserting the CMOS battery might help if there is a BIOS or hardware setting that needs resetting. This is typically a small, coin-shaped battery located on the motherboard. Make sure the laptop is unplugged and the main battery is removed before doing this.

8. Check for Beep Codes or LED Blink Codes

  • Beep Codes/LED Blinks: Some HP laptops use beep codes or LED blink codes to indicate specific hardware issues. Count any beeps or blinks that occur when you try to start the laptop and refer to the HP support website or your user manual for the meaning of these codes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your quick response. I have contacted the authorized HP service and created a ticket for my laptop. It seems that after trying a BIOS reset and other options without success, the issue may require a motherboard replacement. I hope the problem will be resolved after the replacement.
