Hp Omen 17-w252nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The backlit keyboard is not chaning color using the hp omen control app. I have updated the drivers from:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/HP-Omen-Control-Software-reinstall/td-p/5206222

Both the omen control app and the system event utill have been installed from the above link. Still the keys are not changing color as they should. The f5 function does turn the lights on and off. The keyboard works perfectly aside from the inability to change the backlight color.

The keyboard on the Omen 17 cannot change it's keyboard colours.

Red is all it can do. Only the original Omen 15 had that feature.

Hello Netholdes ,

I would not know if this will help. However, please do give a look.

Windows update has been a trouble off lately, or let us say since windows 10 was out.

I will suggest you to try these steps, for some windows updates that might help.

Under the settings for windows 10, go to the date and time settings.
You will see that the automatic date is checked and the time zone disabled. Please check the time zone to be detected automatically.

Now, go back and you will see accounts tab. Ensure that the account if a Microsoft account, should be verified and not with pending verification.

First install System Even Utility to get the right colour.
Then Omen Control.

System Event Utility :

Omen Control:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70894.exe-------right click install with compatibility settings

Once done, go to windows update and click on check for updates. There should be some updates that needs installation. Complete the updates and restart the system.

Now, check if the colors are back to normal.

Please do check with the BIOS default or a BIOS rollback options as well.

Do update if the issue is resolved.

Thank you.
