Dear all
I have an HP Omen 17" series CB0925nd from 2019. During use it suddenly turned off and does nothing anymore. The power supply is ok. Gives 19.85 V. My thought was maybe the battery was defective, but in my opinion it should work also without battery, just on its power supply but does not. Strangely enough, the LED on the power connector does not light up. I opened it and measured the voltage at the socket of the connector. There I measure also 19,85 V. This means there is voltage on the motherboard. A hard reset also does nothing.
It's completely dead and the charging LED doesn't light up.
Do you have any idea?

Hi @prhg,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with your unit not powering on.
If your OMEN By HP 17-Cb0925nd laptop suddenly turned off and is now completely unresponsive, there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue:
1. Check the Power Source:
- Ensure the power adapter is plugged in securely to both the laptop and the power outlet.
- Check the power outlet by plugging in another device to confirm it is working.
- Try a different power adapter if you have one available that is compatible with your laptop.
2. Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter from the laptop.
- Remove the battery (if it is removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter (but not the battery if it was removable).
- Press the power button to see if the laptop turns on.
3. Check for Overheating:
- Overheating can cause the laptop to shut down and prevent it from powering back on until it cools down.
- Ensure the laptop has proper ventilation and is not on a soft surface like a bed or couch that can block airflow.
- Wait for about 30 minutes and try turning it on again.
4. Inspect for Physical Damage:
- Check for any visible damage to the power adapter, power cable, or the laptop itself.
- Inspect the power port on the laptop for any signs of damage or debris.
5. Test with a Known Good Power Adapter:
- If you have access to another compatible power adapter, try using it to power the laptop.
6. Check for Loose Internal Connections:
- If you are comfortable opening the laptop, check for any loose internal connections, particularly the RAM and storage devices.
- Ensure all components are securely connected.
7. Reset the CMOS:
- If the laptop has a removable CMOS battery, try removing it for a few minutes and then reinserting it. This can sometimes reset any corrupted BIOS settings.
If none of the above steps work, there may be a more serious hardware issue. It could be a problem with the motherboard, power supply, or another internal component.
Contact HP phone support for further assistance or take the laptop to the nearest service center.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi , I tried all of this. The power supply gives 19,85 v. I opened the laptop and measured also at the connection on the board. There I measured also 19,85 v. So the power supply seems ok.
I tried to start it without battery but no result.
I also took out the ssd card. Still nothing.
I took the memory cards out, one by one and tried them in different slots. Still nothing.
I also disconnected the hard drive, but again, nothing happened. Not a beep nor a light. Totally nothing.
I am not sure about the CMos battery.
Can't find it and I am not sure if this laptop has one.
Do you know that?
So I think I tried about everything.
Any further suggestions?
