Hey, I have a single slot in my hp victus laptop. So inorder to upgrade the storage, i have to remove the ssd and have to add another one. As the hp victus comes with original windows activation, so when i add another ssd, the previous windows will be deleted, so how can i activate the same original windows in that ssd as well? I heard the windows activation key stored in the bios of hp victus and whenever i download another windows, it will get activated automatically. Is it true?

Hi:

If your notebook came with Windows from HP, then you are correct.

The product key is in the BIOS, and you won't need it to reinstall Windows.

You can also check to see if your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.

You can use the HP cloud recovery tool and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

If it is in the BIOS then why we need HP cloud recovery tool ?

You don't need the cloud recovery tool.

You can use it if you want the original HP image and software that was installed when you got the notebook.

If you want to clean install Windows and reinstall the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page, that will work just fine.
