MY LAPTOP IS 4 MONTHS OLD. I HAVE CONSTANT ISSUES WITH MY TOUCHPAD. THE I2C HID DEVICE IS GIVING A CODE 10 ERROR. AFTER TRYING ALL THE SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING. IT FIXES THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE NEXT RESTART. I REINSTALLED THE DRIVERS. DISABLED AND RE-ENABLED MY I2C. DELETED IT AND RESTARTED. UPDATED MY BIOS AND ALL MY WINDOWS UPDATES. THIS IS A WORK LAPTOP AND AT THIS POINT I MIGHT AS WELL RETURN IT AS THIS IS AFFECTING MY WORK.

@Modindar, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you've already done all the standard troubleshooting steps for the I2C HID Device Code 10 issue.
Here’s what you can do next:
Check for Optional HP Drivers via HP Support Assistant
Even though you’ve updated BIOS and Windows:
Open HP Support Assistant.
Check under "Updates" for any optional driver/firmware updates, especially for Synaptics, ELAN, or Intel Serial IO / I2C Controller drivers.
Also look under "My Devices" > "Troubleshooting and fixes" > "Touchpad".
Manually Install Intel Serial IO / I2C Drivers
Even if Windows shows it's "up to date," it often installs a generic version. Visit:
HP’s support site: Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r1000 (9J120AV) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Suppo....
Download the Intel Serial IO Driver specific to your machine, even if it’s not flagged as urgent.
Check Device Manager Hidden Devices
Open Device Manager → click View > Show hidden devices:
Check under Human Interface Devices and System Devices for any ghosted entries or additional touchpad/I2C entries.
Right-click and uninstall all related ghost entries, then restart.
Disable Fast Startup
Sometimes Fast Startup causes device initialization issues:
Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
Uncheck "Turn on fast startup", click Save, then reboot.
Perform an HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostic (Touchpad Test)
Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP diagnostics.
Run the "Touchpad Test" (under Component Tests > Input Devices).
If it fails or doesn't detect it: likely a hardware fault.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
