Hello @Chifumnanya

Your computer supports up to 16 GB of DDR4 2666 system RAM

You can add another 8GB stick with the existing stick. But it needs to match the timings of the original stick.

Use CPUz and read the current timings before ordering any memory.

Here is what to look for...

Here is your manual... http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05985643

@photoray.Thanks once again. There's something I need to know . I suppose now, that u know that I use the pavilion 15 Gaming laptop. Which would also mean that you do know that being that as it may the pavilion 15 Gaming laptop as a series and family of the same species comes in different configurations/variation. I suppose u know my exact configuration/ variation. This is what has been bugging me.I would very much like to upgrade my graphics card and processor from the Nvidia GeForce 1050 Ti to the N idia  GeForce 1060Ti  and the Intel core i5 8400H b to the i7 8750H. Iunderstand that that cannot be done simply like a ram upgrade  as these cards themselves are soldred into the mother board so I was wondering about the possibility of making a full mother board upgrade in order to achieve my objective seeing that this of course can only be done from the HP authorized center centers as I have read thoroughly of this procedure in the manual u just sent me.

That series only comes with up to  the GTX 1060 Max-Q design, not a 1060ti.

Then the Heat Sink would have to be replaced.

Then the Power Charger would have to be replaced.

Then the battery would have to be replaced.

The boards are not available from HP. You would have to look online for a third party seller that might have a used one for sale.

My understanding is that HP doesn't do upgrades like this for users, even if you are willing to pay. BUT if they did, the cost would NOT be worth it. You might as well buy a new computer.

I suggest if you want a laptop that's higher end, look at the Omen line and stay away from the Pavilions. My opinion.

@photoray 002. If may, wah are d things to consider before upgrading my ram and wah re d things to consider after upgrading my ram..?

HP Recommended

I posted above what to look for when adding ram. The new ram must match the existing ram to avoid problems.

The only thing to consider after installing it is to check the system to make sure its running correctly.

Install CPUz to find the this information.

@Chifumnanya
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I see you need help in upgrading the Ram, on HP Pavilion - HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0056wm. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) which is maximum.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
