Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 (2V8Z4AV)

Hey everyone, i'm here 'cause i'm having an issue with some games on my HP Victus 16. Every in game texture flickers. I tried everything, updating drivers, bios, PC reset. i've also sent an email to Nvidia, tried their solutions but nothing worked. So this is my last call, hoping I don't have to throw away my PC.

P.S.: Not every game does this flickering thing and i also wanna add that games that now are flickering they didn't flicker 2 months ago.

Hi @Dave2494,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Texture Flickering on HP Victus 16!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify Game Settings:

  • Ensure that your game's graphical settings are optimized for your system. Sometimes, adjusting settings such as resolution, texture quality, and anti-aliasing can resolve flickering issues.

Update Graphics Drivers:

Rollback Graphics Drivers:

  • Since the issue started recently, consider rolling back to a previous driver version that did not cause flickering.
  • Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Right-click on your Nvidia GPU > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver.

Check for Game Patches:

  • Some games receive updates to fix graphical issues. Ensure that all your games are updated to the latest versions.

Disable Overclocking:

  • If your GPU or CPU is overclocked, try disabling the overclocking settings as they can sometimes cause instability and graphical issues.

Change Power Settings:

  • Ensure your power plan is set to High Performance.
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Select "High Performance".

Adjust Nvidia Control Panel Settings:

  • Open Nvidia Control Panel and adjust the following settings:
    • Under "Manage 3D Settings", set Power management mode to Prefer maximum performance.
    • Set Vertical sync to On or Fast.
    • Set Texture filtering - Quality to High performance.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that your laptop is not overheating. Overheating can cause graphical issues.
  • Use software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check your GPU temperatures.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Dave2494,

Thanks for your quick update. I know how frustrating this issue can be, especially when nothing seems to work. But don’t worry, we’re not done yet. Let’s dig deeper and try some next-level troubleshooting steps:

Clean Install of NVIDIA Drivers Using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller).

Boot into Safe Mode (Shift + Restart > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings).

Run DDU and clean uninstall all NVIDIA drivers.

Reboot normally and install the latest Game Ready Driver from NVIDIA's official site.

This ensures no leftover files or corrupted installs.

Switch Between Integrated and Dedicated GPU

Sometimes the system auto-switching causes flickers:

Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Set Preferred Graphics Processor to High-Performance NVIDIA GPU.

Alternatively, try forcing the game to run using Integrated GPU (AMD Radeon) to check if flickering persists there as well.

Reinstall DirectX and Visual C++ Runtimes

Corrupted system components might trigger graphical bugs:

Reinstall DirectX End-User Runtime

Download and install all versions of Visual C++ Redistributables from 2005 to latest (x64 and x86)

Disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling

Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings

Turn off Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling

Reboot the PC

Test on External Monitor

Check if the flickering occurs when:

Connecting the laptop to an external display

If issue disappears, the problem may lie in the laptop display or panel ribbon

Create a New Local Windows Account

Sometimes profile corruption causes strange issues:

Create a new local user account (not Microsoft-linked)

Log in and test the games again

I hope this helps.
