Hi team,
I am trying to install Windows 11 through a bootable USB stick on a recently acquired Free DOS OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-wf0109nq (95S27EA) but getting the 'Install driver to show hardware' screen when trying to do so.
Could you please guide me through step-by-step detailed information in order to be able to pursue with the Windows 11 installation?
Kind regards,
Daniel-Alexandru

Later edit:
For anyone else encountering the same issue, Windows 10 is the fix for a clean Free DOS first installation.

This usually happens on FreeDOS HP OMEN laptops because the storage (Intel VMD / RST) driver is missing.
Try this first:
Power on → press F10 to enter BIOS
Go to Advanced > Storage Configuration
Disable Intel VMD Controller (if available)
Save and restart, then try Windows 11 installation again
If the SSD is still not visible:
Download the Intel RST driver for OMEN 16-wf0109nq from HP’s support site
Copy it to the Windows USB
On the “Install driver” screen, click Browse and load the driver
After this, the SSD should appear and you can continue the installation.
I followed the same steps on a similar OMEN FreeDOS model and also documented them for reference: pkrvip
