OMEN by HP 15-dc1067tx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,
I'm using an Omen 15-dc1067tx (with a GTX 1660 Ti and an i7-9750H).
I'm having what I believe is an issue where the integrated graphics card simply doesn't show up in Device Manager.

I know there's supposed to be an integrated GPU, because when I enter my computer's serial number on the HP support website, it lists an integrated UHD Graphics card.

Only the dedicated GPU is recognized in Device Manager. I've tried pretty much everything I can  including checking the BIOS on startup for an 'Advanced' tab (but there wasn't one), installing and scanning the PC with the official Intel Support Assistant  but the integrated GPU still doesn’t appear.

Hi @socialstorm,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP OMEN 15-dc1067tx. If the integrated graphics card does not appear in Device Manager, there are a few steps you can try.

  • BIOS Settings: Double-check the BIOS settings to see if the integrated graphics are enabled. Sometimes these settings can be turned off, especially when a dedicated graphics card is present.
  • Device Manager View: Ensure that in Device Manager, the view is set to show hidden devices by clicking on "View" and selecting "Show hidden devices". This can sometimes reveal hardware that is not showing due to driver installation issues.
  • Update BIOS: Make sure your BIOS is up-to-date. Download the latest BIOS version from the HP support site specifically for your laptop model, and follow the instructions carefully to update it.
  • Install Latest Drivers: Manually download and install the latest drivers from HP's support page for both your dedicated GTX 1660 Ti and the integrated UHD Graphics. Ensure you install the correct drivers for your operating system version.
  • Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
  • Check for Hardware Changes: In Device Manager, click on "Action" and then "Scan for hardware changes" to see if the system detects the integrated GPU.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for response @raj_05
Look I have already performed all of the steps you suggested, but they did not resolve the issue.

Suggested StepResult / Status
BIOS SettingsChecked. The BIOS (F.XX version) is extremely basic and does not contain any options to enable or switch the graphics adapter (iGPU/dGPU).
Device Manager ViewChecked. Enabling "Show hidden devices" does not reveal the Intel UHD Graphics 630.
Update BIOSChecked. The BIOS is already updated to the latest available version from the HP support site. I've checked with the intel support driver assistant.
Install Latest DriversAttempted. Attempting to install the official Intel UHD Graphics drivers manually fails as nothing happens after i run it..atleast an older version of it, the newer version fails (I will attach screen recordings for both so you can see yourself)
Windows UpdatesChecked. Windows is fully updated.
Scan for Hardware ChangesAttempted. Scanning for hardware changes in Device Manager yields no new devices.

My conclusion that the iGPU is physically disabled by HP's firmware is strongly supported by two key pieces of evidence: my installation log and multiple community threads involving similar high-end OMEN laptops.

After extensive searching, I found a thread on this very HP Community forum that perfectly describes my problem

Thread: Integrated Intel Graphics (GPU) disabled by factory

In this thread, a user states that they contacted HP Support and were informed:

"To my dismay, it turns out (according to the fellow from HP support) that the Intel GPU is disabled by the factory and there is no way to enable it."

A. Corroborating Community Threads

This appears to be a known characteristic of the OMEN  series when configured with a powerful discrete GPU:

  1. Higher-end GPU Disablement Policy (HP Moderator Comment): A reply from an HP Support Community Moderator in this older thread noted a pattern where the iGPU is disabled on OMEN machines with "higher NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX cards," but not on those with lower-end cards where dynamic switching works. My GTX 1660 Ti fits the "higher-end" category.

  2. General Inquiries & Advanced Users: Other users facing this on similar OMEN models have noted the lack of any iGPU options:

B. Intel Driver Log Analysis

The diagnostic log from my failed Intel driver installation clearly shows that the Intel installer cannot even detect the iGPU hardware itself. The log scans for compatible devices but fails to list the required Device ID for the Intel UHD Graphics 630. This confirms that the chip is not being initialized by the motherboard's firmware, which is why it is missing from Device Manager.

Screen Recording below

New driver Version fails to install (log file)

Old Driver Version fails to even start installation all together

The thing I just dont get is the exact reason mine was disabled?
G-SYNC is a common reason why this can be disabled but my particular laptop display does not even support G-SYNC.
just smh

Hi @socialstorm,

Thank you for your response.

Kindly update the Intel Driver and Support Assistant. This will show all Intel drivers for your PC. Kindly select all the Intel drivers and check.

It doesn't work. like I said in my post this is an issue of my iGPU probably being disabled by the manufacturer.

Pls read this my reply here - https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/Integrated-graphics-card-not-detected/m-p/9548900#
I go into details on the exact issue..I say this because your question seems to imply that you haven't really gotten the scope of my particular issue.
