I have an issue when downloading HP firmware updates in Windows 11. When I go to Windows optional updates, I see HP Firmware update. If I download the update, my Victus laptop will not boot. I previously spoke to HP tech support and they said it was due to the additional NVME drive I added myself. They were right, and if I remove the drive I can download and install the firmware update normally. Of course opening my laptop and removing the drive every time I need to update is a huge pain in the ass. My question is, is there a way to disable the second drive in bios or somewhere else before the firmware update so I can install it, then enable the drive again after the update is installed?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I see that you are trying to install the Firmware driver from the optional Windows 11 update and you are facing issues booting up your system.
I also see that you have installed a secondary NVME drive. You could try updating the Firmware using the steps shared in the link here.
You can also disable the secondary drive from the BIOS. You can choose a boot device from boot options and you will be able to disable it.

I actually went ahead and installed the firmware update and was prepared to use your solution, but the update went through this time without an issue. It seems HP has updated the process and the system is no longer confused as to which is the boot drive when doing firmware updates. That being said, in the the future if it happens again I will use the solution you provided above.
