OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dc0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings, I have this laptop OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dc0xxx where the 3rd and 4th zone colors are messed up, in blue and purple color, the other colors i think are good. I have the latest bios and omen center updates F08 and 8.1.3.0 and no updates needed anywhere, double checked.

Is there any chance that the bios caused that problem? as i think it was working fine before the latest update if I am not mistaken. Anyone else has the same problem with me? Use default colors so u can check if u see light purple and light blue.

Thank you.

Hello @George-mk

Someone else mentioned something about the colors today but I couldnt get them to be more precise in what they saw.

What is the blue and purple colors doing? Exact details will help me understand better. Or even a photo might help explain.

If there are others who chime in with this problem also, I might be able to get some insight from HP on it.

In the pics above i have picked the blue color (the default one) in the whole keyboard besides the w,a,s,d. Although the color we see in the 3rd and 4th zone is some kind of green and not blue which is picked. I think this happened after the latest bios update but i am a not totally sure. Thank you for your help.

Hello there,

Can you please tell me your exact model number? I am sorry that I don't have any solutions for your problem, but I am willing to buy an HP Omen notebook just like yours, from the DC series.

I want to buy an HP Omen 15-dc0030nr, and if you got the same/simliar model, I would like to ask you the follow questions:

1) Does it have chassis lighting?

2) The keyboard is 4-zones RGB, right?

I hope you find the solution for your problem, but did you check the RGB brightness level? Maybe you have messed with that without noticing. Because as far as I've seen on youtube, there is a brightness level bar. Try adjusting it.

I hope that this can help you,

Regards.

Hey,

My model is 15-dc0xxx, which does not have chassis lighting. It has only keyboard lighting 4-zones RGB where u can customize in many colors.

About your solution let me know that if u select "default" it goes back to as it was no matter to any change i have made, i know it has brightness settings, but that's not the problem in my case. It could be even from the last bios updates which i think that made my keyboard seems a bit weird or just a faulty keyboard.

The laptop is good and i have it from last September and I could suggest it to you. Let me know if you have more questions.

Btw how much money u will spend? I got the 1070 8b, 12gb ram, 144hrz, 512 ssd and 1tb hdd which was a bt expensive.

Hey Mate,

Thanks for replying, so I am going to buy this model, it rocks a six core Intel I7-8750H processor, Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB, 16 gigs of ram, 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD; Omen by HP 15-dc0030nr:

There is two reasons behind me not buying your model with the GTX 1070 is that 1) It doesn't have Chassis lighting (As written on Amazon and I like this feature) and 2) 1500$+ is not my budget. I am willing to spend 1190$ for the GTX 1060 one.

Also, 15-dc0xxx isn't your exact model, make sure to check your model from the website you bought it from or from the box. Also write it down to the HP Assistant who is handling your problem, he might find it useful! I suppose it is dc-0045nr because I've seen simliar specs on amazon which has the same model.

There is something wrong, I've heard  that 1070 models only have 2-zones lighting? I don't know I am not sure. But I am glad yours have a 4-zones lighting.

Also, I've made a topic here asking if my model has Chassis lighting, do you have any information? I am desperate for help.

Summary: Amazon says my model has both Chassis and 4-zones RGB lighting, HP's Website only says that 15-dc0xxx series has a 4-zones lighting. I am pretty confused.
