Hi @palaniswamy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It sounds like the keyboard issue might be related to the installation of the new SSD, although it's unusual for a storage change to affect keyboard functionality directly. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Physical Connections:

  • If the laptop was opened to install the SSD, there might be a loose cable or connection. Carefully open the laptop again and check if the keyboard's ribbon cable is securely connected to the motherboard.

2. Restart the Laptop:

  • Perform a full shutdown and restart of the laptop. Sometimes, restarting can resolve issues that arise after hardware changes.

3. BIOS Check:

  • Enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing Esc, F2, F10, or Del during boot) and check if the keyboard works in the BIOS menu. If it does, the issue is likely software-related.

4. Update Drivers:

  • Go to the Device Manager (right-click on the Start button > Device Manager), expand the "Keyboards" section, and try updating the drivers. If there is an error indicator (yellow triangle), right-click and choose "Update driver."

5. Reinstall the Keyboard Driver:

  • In Device Manager, right-click the keyboard driver and select "Uninstall device." After uninstalling, restart the laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the keyboard driver.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @palaniswamy,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Keyboard, and run the troubleshooter to detect and fix keyboard issues.

7. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your system is up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix driver or compatibility issues.

8. Test with an External Keyboard:

  • Connect an external USB keyboard to check if it works. If the external keyboard works, it confirms that the issue is isolated to the internal keyboard.

9. Check Keyboard Settings:

  • Make sure that the keyboard is not disabled in settings. Go to Device Manager and ensure that the keyboard device is enabled.

10. Check for BIOS Updates:

  • Sometimes, BIOS updates include fixes for hardware compatibility issues. Check HP’s support site for any available BIOS updates for your model.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the keyboard itself or a more complex conflict caused by the SSD installation

Run a test on the Keyboard and see how it goes. Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
