Hi,

The only option I can see that may be worth trying is to make sure you're running the latest bios version ( F.09 Rev.A ) as it mentions 'Provides improved keyboard behavior when games are played on the system.'

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76501-77000/sp76810.cva

You can check the notebooks current bios revision by holding down the fn key and pressing esc.

If you are running an earlier revision, F.09 Rev.A can be found on the following link.

If you're already running this bios, or it doesn't correct the issue, my best advice would be to contact HP regarding this while the machine is still under warranty.

Regards,

I have an HP Spectre x360 4102dx with Intel 5500U processor, top of the line model for 2015.

I am STILL having the exact same problem with keys sticking on an HP Spectre x360. The motherboard has been entirely replaced once, and the keyboard has been replaced twice by HP repair, so this is definitely not a 'just my model' issue. Either the actual IO controller or something to do with the IO bus is messed up on the motherboard by design, or (more probably) something isn't right with the BIOS. I am running the very latest BIOS F.46, but the issue has persisted ever since I received the laptop. Unfortunately I did not notice that this was an issue before the 30-day return window passed.

The only solution for now is to attach an external keyboard unfortunately. My only consolation is that with Intel integrated graphics, you can barely play most games at a reasonable framerate anyway. This issue doesn't happen JUST while gaming either and appears to apply to any key on the keyboard. Load up a CPU/GPU intensive program, keep it running in the background, open a text editor, and hold down like the 'D' letter key for a few seconds and release. Repeat and you should end up with the same issue, the computer still thinks that key is being pressed and will type the letter infinitely until you tap the key again.
Please also see the thread I have opened here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/Keys-still-sticking-while-playing-games-on-HP-Spectre...

This NEEDS a BIOS fix for HP's original premium Spectre lineup after so long. Please, HP devs fix this problem, it appears to have been fixed for the HP Omen laptops: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/Keys-stick-on-Omen-laptop/td-p/5752444

I guess this question is quite old but I recently had the same problem and I think I've fixed it.  The issue seems to be with the keyboard repeat rate being set too high.  I reduced the rate setting and the games I play at least seem to work ok.  Hope this helps others.
