OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dc0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Omen Laptop freezes and blue screen when unplugged or removed connected iOS devices(Iphone 8 plus) through the thunderbolt 3 type c port(apple thunderbolt-lightening cable). Pretty sure it's not the phone issue as I had tested two same and one older model's iPhone, and a iPad. Cable is Apple official lighting to type C cable.

I updated thunderbolt driver and reset windows 10. I tried safe remove by windows and itunes. But freezing and blue screen happend again.

I tried several times unplugeed or removed iphone but same freezing and blue screen happened everytime though. I googled this error but I found just driver update and window reset suggested but same error happend and was not solved.

Thanks.

Hi @lee_cw

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Appreciate you trying those steps. I'd suggest you try testing the hardware using these steps -

1) Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2) Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3) On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests. Click Extensive Test.

If the test passes, try updating the computer using these steps -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I followed the solutions, but Blue screens and freezing happened again after disconnection.

What I did but failed were 1. reset windows 10, 2. Safe discard, 3. drivers update, 4. safe mode in windows 10, 5. run windows update and assistant, etc.

What I succeeded is connect the iphone thought usb-c hub.(Laptop --> usb-c hub --> usb-c to lightening cable --> iphone). It is stable but laptop does not recognize iphone. Just charge the iphone. Anyway No blue screen in laptop.

I will wait windows update. Thanks
