Hi @basar_sikder, Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
Controlling the laptop fan manually (turning it on/off at will) is not officially supported by HP BIOS or HP software, as fan behavior is automatically managed by the system's thermal sensors to ensure optimal cooling and hardware protection.
However, here are a few options and suggestions you can explore:
Option 1: BIOS Settings (Limited Control)
Some HP EliteBook models offer basic fan control options in BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and press
Esc
orF10
repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup. - Navigate to Advanced > Thermal Configuration.
- Look for an option like "Fan Always On" or "Fan Control".
- You can disable "Fan Always On" to allow the fan to turn off when not needed.
📌 Note: These settings only affect idle behavior and won’t let you manually toggle the fan.
Option 2: HP Power Manager or HP Command Center
Some HP business laptops support HP Power Manager or HP Command Center, which may offer limited thermal profile adjustments:
-
Check if your device supports it by visiting HP Power Manager - Microsoft Store
-
After installing, look for thermal or performance profiles like Quiet Mode, Performance Mode, etc.
Option 3: Third-Party Tools (Use with Caution)
If you're comfortable experimenting, third-party tools like NoteBook FanControl (NBFC) or Open Hardware Monitor may offer manual fan control for some HP models.
⚠️ Important: These tools are not officially supported by HP and may not work with your EliteBook 845 G7. Use at your own risk, and monitor system temperatures carefully.
Best Practice
HP recommends allowing the system to manage fan speeds automatically to prevent overheating and ensure long-term reliability. If your fan is running too often or too loud, consider:
- Cleaning air vents and fans.
- Updating BIOS and chipset drivers from HP Support - Official HP® Support
- Checking for background processes causing high CPU usage.
