Hi, i am having issues with my HP Victus gaming laptop.
When it's charging, it's limiting games to 40 fps. Whilst not on it, it runs without problems 60 fps.

Anyone else has this issue?

Additional info: Seems the RTX3060 drops in activity when charging, but runs high when unplugged.

Hi @TrekkerGek,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Victus gaming laptop may be experiencing some performance limitations while charging. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Power Settings:

  • Check your power settings to ensure that your laptop is not set to a power-saving mode while charging. Navigate to the power options and select "High performance" mode.

Graphics Settings:

  • Open your graphics control panel (NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings) and make sure the power settings are set to maximize performance. Look for options related to power management and set them to prefer maximum performance.

Windows Power Plan:

  • Go to "Power Options" in the Control Panel and select the "High performance" power plan. This can help ensure that your laptop is utilizing its full performance potential.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, updates can address performance-related issues.

Temperature Monitoring:

  • Overheating can lead to performance throttling. Use tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to monitor your laptop's temperatures while gaming. If temperatures are too high, consider cleaning the laptop's cooling system or using a cooling pad.

Battery Health:

  • Check the health of your laptop's battery. A degraded battery might not provide sufficient power, leading to performance issues. Some laptops have a battery health diagnostic tool.

Check Charging Cable and Adapter:

  • Ensure that you are using the original charging cable and adapter that came with your laptop. Using third-party chargers might not provide sufficient power.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the NVIDIA or AMD website (depending on your GPU) to download and install the latest drivers for your system.

Disable Xbox Game Bar:

  • The Xbox Game Bar in Windows 10 can sometimes affect gaming performance. Try disabling it in the settings.

Before making any changes, it's a good idea to back up your important data and be cautious when updating BIOS or making changes to system settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
